Senior Network Engineer/Team Lead

General Purpose of Position:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Network Engineer to oversee the development and maintenance of our college campus network and phone system. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of our network infrastructure. The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, operation, support, and deployment of all campus network services.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
▪ Lead end-to-end design and implementation of Meredith's distribution of voice, data, video, and converged communications services.
▪ Conduct basic networking troubleshooting and provide timely resolutions and answers to user questions.
▪ Manage projects ensuring timelines and deliverables are met and meet expectations.
▪ Manage and optimize VPN, NPS, Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP services.
▪ Manage network security.
▪ Develop requirements and investigate new technologies for new services and applications to meet the campus community's needs.
▪ Develop security definitions for the operation and management of the campus communications systems.
▪ Maintain awareness of evolving information technologies through professional publications, outside contacts, and ongoing professional development.
▪ Perform day-to-day operational activities for maintaining all network services including patching, backups, configuration, updating and documentation.
▪ Maintain campus connection to the Internet via NCREN.

Skills Needed:

▪ Must have strong interpersonal and communications skills; be capable of writing proposals, act as a vendor liaison, and work closely with College management.
▪ Excellent problem-solving skills. Must have the ability to solve problems quickly
▪ Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
▪ Strong organizational and time-management skills.
▪ Detail-oriented with a focus on maintaining a secure and reliable network.
▪ Familiarity with the latest trends and advancements in networking technologies.

Education & Experience:
▪ Bachelor's degree and 5 years of proven experience as a Senior Network Administrator or equivalent experience.
▪ Proficiency in basic networking troubleshooting and understanding.
▪ Strong expertise in VPN, NPS, Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP.
▪ Hands-on experience with Fortinet technologies, specifically gateways and switching equipment.

Working conditions & physical demands ▪ Typical office environment.
▪ Long periods of standing and sitting.
▪ Move from one location to another as needed.
▪ Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
