The Manager of the Copy Center is responsible for managing all operational aspects of the college’s print shop. This includes overseeing print production, managing equipment and supply inventories, supervising staff, and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality printed materials. The position plays a key part in supporting the college’s revenue goals and maintaining excellent customer service across departments. The position will take a lead role in driving external print sales by meeting revenue targets and service growth within the copy center. The manager is considered a partner to Marketing and Communications in ensuring that printed materials follow the college brand guidelines. This position requires strong leadership, attention to detail, and hands-on experience with digital print and bindery equipment. The manager must be organized and customer-focused.
Duties:
- Oversee all aspects of the print production process, including digital print and bindery services.
- Lead efforts to grow print services and sales within the campus community and external communities.
- Manage the copy center online print ordering system used by the campus.
- Enter and monitor charges in the college’s accounting system.
- Manage and oversee campus copiers and print shop equipment service contracts to ensure optimal functionality within budgetary resources.
- Evaluate requests for new and replacement networked campus copiers/printers.
- Order paper and ink supplies for the copy center and campus.
- Identify areas for process improvement and implement plans to reduce waste and inefficiencies, including monitoring and managing all print supplies.
- Supervise and support copy center staff, including the copy center assistant and student assistants.
- Maintain a high standard of print quality, accuracy, and timely delivery for all projects.
- Operate and manage specialized print production software and equipment effectively.
- Cultivate a customer-centric environment, delivering exceptional service and fostering positive experiences.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Communications on branding.
Skills needed:
- Proven experience in print production or related field.
- Print shop retail experience preferred.
- Strong leadership and project management skills.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational, problem-solving and time management abilities.
- Proficient in digital print and bindery equipment operations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must be able to coach and train others in a professional environment.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, in particular Word, Excel, Adobe or FoxIt PDF software.
- Adobe Creative Suite knowledge is a plus.
- A successful candidate will be able to learn Meredith-specific computer programs such as gmail, online print ordering system, posting charges, etc.

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- Must have at least 2 years of customer service experience in a retail/sales environment
- Valid NC Driver’s License and clear driving history is required
Working conditions & Physical demands:
- Loud office setting from copier and print equipment
- 50 – 70% of standing and reaching with hands and arms, standing and walking
- Will normally lift 25 – 50 lbs.
- May have to occasionally have to drive on and off campus
- Frequently exposed to dust
- Occasionally may have to work near moving mechanical parts and fumes
