Intranet Coordinator

The Intranet Coordinator manages and maintains the college’s intranet platform. This position requires a skilled individual blending technical expertise with effective communication and organizational abilities. The Intranet Coordinator oversees the day-to-day operation and management of the college’s intranet. This role involves maintaining site navigation and content, coordinating with key stakeholders, engaging and training users, analyzing system performance, and monitoring the platform's overall health.

Duties:
- Assist content editors with migrating content from existing sources or offer guidance to recreate content as needed to ensure full functionality.
- Offer consultations on intranet page development.
- Manage user permissions and roles.
- Create and manage page templates.
- Provide document management guidance to users.
- Provide guidance for adding various content types to the intranet and create user-friendly Help Guides.
- Develop and provide training to campus constituents.
- Troubleshoot intranet-related tickets submitted to the Freshservice system.
- Perform regular user surveys to gauge satisfaction and monitor analytics to track intranet performance.
- Monitor campus needs for new features and determine when to activate or deactivate intranet tools.
- Manage routine administrative tasks within the intranet software.
- Attend monthly meetings with the Intranet provider.
- Identify and implement engagement strategies to increase user participation on the Intranet.

Skills Needed:
- A strong understanding of intranet platforms, content management systems, and related technologies.
- Basic understanding of the components of standard web technology (HTML, CSS, Javascript).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with various stakeholders and translate technical concepts into understandable terms.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and execute projects efficiently, including content migration, system upgrades, and user training.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work with cross-functional teams, including IT, content creators, department heads, and program managers.
- Working knowledge of Google Workspace.
- Aptitude for troubleshooting technical issues, resolving user concerns, and finding innovative solutions to meet the organization's needs.
- Experience in developing training materials, conducting user training sessions, and providing ongoing support to end users.
- Careful management of site content, navigation, and administrative tasks to ensure consistency and accuracy.
- Ability to use analytics tools to monitor intranet performance and user engagement and to derive insights for continuous improvement.
- Willingness to stay updated with the latest intranet technologies, trends, and best practices to ensure the intranet remains effective and user-friendly.
- Commitment to delivering a positive user experience and meeting the needs of the campus community.

Preferred Skills:
- A foundational understanding of APIs (Application Programming Interfaces).
- Familiarity with different APIs, such as RESTful APIs and SOAP, as these are commonly used in web and intranet applications.
- Know how APIs can support integrating various intranet features, such as single sign-on (SSO).

- Interacts with various college faculty and staff committee members.
- Interacts with faculty and staff.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience in intranet management.
- Experience with content management systems (CMS).
- Strong understanding of information architecture and user experience principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and adapt to changing priorities.
- Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Working conditions & physical demands:
- This position is a remote position with occasional visits to campus for meetings, events, and face-to-face consultations. Employee must reside in the state of North Carolina. Must be able to come to campus as required.
- May occasionally lift objects weighing up to 25 lbs when on campus.
