The Head Flag Football Coach is responsible for providing leadership, organization, and supervision for all aspects of the Meredith College flag football program. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining a competitive NCAA Division III program while demonstrating a strong commitment to the NCAA Division III philosophy and the holistic development of student-athletes.

The Head Coach oversees coaching and player development, recruiting and retention, program administration, staff supervision, compliance, student-athlete support, fundraising, and engagement with the College and broader community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Coaching & Player Development
- Plan, implement, and oversee all training sessions, competitive strategies, and player development initiatives.
- Evaluate and develop individual and team performance to achieve competitive success within the conference and at the regional and NCAA levels.
- Develop a positive team culture that emphasizes academic success, personal growth, well-being, sportsmanship, and competitive excellence.

Recruiting & Roster Development
- Meet recruitment and retention goals established by the College.
- Identify and recruit student-athletes who meet Meredith College academic and athletic standards.
- Maintain an active and organized recruiting pipeline.
- Develop and maintain relationships with high school and club coaches.
- Work collaboratively with Admissions and other College offices throughout the recruitment and enrollment process.
- Provide recruitment and retention reports to the Athletic Director.

Program Administration
- Oversee all aspects of program operations, including scheduling, team travel, equipment procurement, and facility coordination.
- Manage the flag football program budget responsibly and efficiently.
- Develop and maintain a competitive schedule that prepares the team to compete successfully within the conference and in postseason play.
- Supervise assistant coaches and volunteers, providing appropriate direction, oversight, and evaluation.
- Provide annual assistant coaching staff evaluation reports to the Athletic Director.
- Maintain program records and complete required administrative responsibilities in a timely manner.

Compliance & Professional Expectations
- Maintain knowledge of and comply with NCAA Division III, conference, and Meredith College rules, policies, and procedures.
- Complete all required NCAA, institutional, departmental, and compliance documentation.
- Work collaboratively with the Athletics Compliance Officer to ensure the program and its student-athletes comply with all applicable rules and regulations.
- Demonstrate a commitment to the NCAA Division III philosophy and the educational mission of Meredith College.
- Participate actively in Athletics Department meetings, initiatives, events, and other departmental responsibilities as assigned.

Student-Athlete Support & Retention
- Monitor student-athlete academic progress and support retention and graduation success.
- Collaborate with academic support staff, athletic trainers, strength and conditioning coaches, and administrators to support the personal welfare and development of each student-athlete.
- Foster a positive environment that promotes student-athlete engagement, development, and retention.
- Build strong relationships with student-athletes through consistent communication and clear expectations.

Community & Campus Engagement
- Represent the flag football program at College events, alumnae functions, and fundraising activities.
- Promote the program to the public, including media, donors, alumnae, and the campus community, to increase the visibility and support of the program.
- Develop opportunities for the flag football program and student-athletes to engage positively with the College and broader community.

Fundraising & Program Development
- Develop and participate in fundraising designed to generate additional resources for the program.
- Work collaboratively with the Athletic Director and appropriate College offices to establish and pursue annual fundraising goals and priorities.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with alumnae, families, donors, and other supporters of Meredith flag football.
- Participate in Athletics Department and College fundraising initiatives, special events, and donor engagement activities as assigned.
- Identify opportunities to enhance program resources and support the long-term growth and success of the flag football program.

Secondary Duties:
- Assist with Athletics event management as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.

Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Demonstrated successful coaching experience at the collegiate, high school, or club level.
- Knowledge and understanding of NCAA Division III philosophy, rules, and regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and recruit prospective student-athletes.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a collegiate athletics department and broader campus community.
- Ability to travel and willingness to be trained in the operation of College vehicles.
- Valid North Carolina driver's license with a clear driving history required.
Preferred:
- Master's degree.
- Collegiate head coaching or high-level assistant coaching experience.

Working conditions and physical demands:
- Ability to work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends, and travel for competition and recruiting.
- Ability to demonstrate flag football skills and participate in on-field instruction.
- Ability to move or lift items weighing approximately 25–50 pounds.
- Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
