The Director of Adult Education is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing initiatives that promote and support the education needs of adult learners. The Director of Adult Education will collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure the delivery of high-quality programs and services that meet the unique needs of adult students.
Duties:
- Develop and implement a strategic vision for adult education programs, ensuring alignment with the college’s mission and goals
- Collaborate with Deans and Department Chairs to develop innovative academic programs in appropriate modalities and schedules to support adult learners
- Collaborate with Marketing to actively promote programs through traditional and digital marketing channels
- Collaborate with Institutional Advancement to gain donor support for adult education programs and adult students
- Develop, direct, and manage the operational aspects of the program, including but not limited to student support and advocacy, event planning, and community outreach
- Assist with managing the adult education budget
- Compile reports on enrollment, revenue, and program outcomes for administration
- Stay abreast of best practices and trends in continuing education through professional development
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Provost
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or higher
- A minimum of 5-7 years of academic leadership at the college level
- 3+ years of experience in adult education, program development and student services
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Exceptional organizational skills and ability to effectively manage details
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work some evenings and weekends as needed
- Demonstrated experience in program development, strategic planning, and implementation
- Strong understanding of the unique needs and challenges faced by adult learners
- Experience with budget management and resource allocation
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment
- Prefer familiarity with CAEL resources and practices
