Meredith College seeks qualified applicants to fill a tenure-track assistant professorship in English with a focus on professional writing. This full-time position will begin in August 2025.

We are seeking an engaging, student-centered teacher who creates community and appeals to student interests, demonstrates a strong commitment to implementing the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion in all areas of academic practice, and shows eagerness to collaborate with other faculty in developing curriculum relevant to the needs of twenty-first century students.

Duties:
Duties will include teaching upper-level professional writing courses and freshman composition; depending on department needs, occasional literature courses are also possible. Candidates must have experience teaching professional writing courses at the college level and energy and enthusiasm for teaching composition. The expectation is that this position will eventually entail directing the Professional Writing minor and the internship program. In addition, this position will include administrative responsibility with release time for a certificate program in digital media.

Qualifications:
Ideal candidates will have a terminal degree in hand and demonstrated excellence in teaching. Preparation and experience in professional writing are required; graduate training may be in literature. Experience in journalism would be a plus. Candidates must have experience teaching professional writing courses at the college level and energy and enthusiasm for teaching composition.
