Responsible for assisting in the planning and implementation of all outreach efforts, such as special events, chapter events, publications and website, of the office of Alumnae Relations for Meredith College.
Duties:
- Assists with the planning and implementation of major alumnae events, including Alumnae Reunion Weekend, move in day, Day of Giving, Discover Meredith, special alumnae events and other events as they arise. These events will require some evening and weekend work.
- Manages a network of alumnae chapters and volunteers. Duties include working with individual chapter leaders to plan and staff one fall and one spring event for each chapter annually. While we have chapters located across the country, those located in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia are usually staffed by a college representative.
- Coordinate and support the class event agents for the 13 classes celebrating a reunion at Alumnae Reunion Weekend. This includes coordinating the spring class mailings as well individual class events.
- Compiles, writes and edits articles for various alumnae publications, including the LUX and Alumnae Connection of Meredith Magazine. Maintains the alumnae section of the College website as well as Beyond the Back Gate, the alumnae blog.
- Assists in developing and implementing strategies that increase awareness, involvement and support from alumnae. This includes events, volunteer management and recruitment among chapters, class agents and volunteer boards as well as writing for various alumnae publications, facebook page and the alumnae section of the College website.
- Recruits and trains volunteers committed to successful alumnae programming. This includes chapter leaders, class agents, and Board members.
- Works with other campus offices on programs that involve alumnae.
Skills Needed:
- Thorough knowledge of principles of event planning and management as well as methods for the operation of a successful alumni/ae program.
- Successful experience in management, program development and implementation in a complex organizational setting.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully with multiple constituencies, both internal and external.
- Strong event planning and marketing skills.
- Demonstrated ability to relate to a diverse constituency.

- Works with other members of the Institutional Advancement.
- Interacts frequently with faculty, staff, students, alumnae, and donors of the College.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Demonstrated ability in program development, event planning, writing, volunteer management and communication.
Working conditions & physical demands:
- General office setting.
- Ability to travel evenings and weekends. Must have a valid NC Drivers License and a clear driving history.
