Wellness Coordinator

Coordinates efforts to provide a comprehensive employee wellness program that positively impacts employee overall health and wellbeing, focusing on all eight recognized wellness components, including physical, emotional, occupational, social, financial, intellectual, environmental and spiritual wellness. Aids employees in learning about and improving well-being, supporting positive employee morale, building community and employee support networks, reducing absenteeism, positively impacting employee retention, managing employee safety efforts, managing health and wellness benefit costs, including workers’ compensation, and providing activities that foster positive campus culture. This position is externally funded for one year with possible renewal based on funding availability. Position is approved for up to 40 hours per week. Flexible scheduling requests will be considered. Full benefits are available for 30+ hours per week. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Plans, implements, leads and promotes activities to aid employees in learning about and adopting healthy lifestyle options to improve the health and well-being of employees and their families;
- Coordinates activities and programs for employees, teaching or working with others, focusing on all eight components of wellness (physical, emotional, financial, spiritual, social, occupational, environmental, and intellectual);
- Researches needs and identifies opportunities to positively impact employee wellness and campus culture;
- Builds a network of resources to meet wellness needs, partnering with others both on campus and off to provide opportunities in support of employee wellness efforts;
- Provides educational opportunities by planning, coordinating and implementing classes, speakers, seminars, personal training, and fitness assessments that promote healthy lifestyles;
- Provides educational opportunities by planning, creating and presenting informational sessions, both in-person and virtually, to support effective wellness programming;
- Develops promotions, challenges and publicity plans for wellness and fitness programs;
- Coordinates workplace safety training and may research work related illness/injuries;
- Provides ergonomic workplace assessment and support;
- Chairs Employee Safety Committee under direction of Responsible Administrator (VP Business & Finance);
- Coordinates Employee WOW! program, managing enrollments and funding receipts, coordinating class offerings and hiring of instructors;
- Develops tools to assess and track impact of wellness efforts, seeking to demonstrate positive impact on employee wellness through improved health insurance renewals, reduced work-related injuries, reduced absenteeism, improved employee morale, and reduced turnover related to employee dissatisfaction.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Skills Needed:
- An excellent understanding of employee wellness needs, focusing on all eight components identified;
- Demonstrated ability to promote and build positive, professional, and productive relationships with key stakeholders;
- Excellent interpersonal communication, public speaking, and negotiation skills;
- Ability to create training programs;
- Strong understanding of safety and ergonomic requirements;
- Ability to plan and coordinate multiple efforts simultaneously;
- Strong sense of community and ability to understand and respond to employee needs;
- Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other programs, as needed.

Key Interfaces:
- Interacts extensively with all employee groups, vendors and others as assigned.

Education & Experience:
- Minimum educational requirement is an Associate’s degree in related field and minimum three years related experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field with a minimum of one-year related experience;
- Previous experience in an educational setting; and
- Strong understanding of campus cultures.

Working conditions & physical demands:
- General office setting with moderate noise;
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. to waist height;
- Ability to walk extended distances, traverse uneven surfaces, climb ladders, climb stairs, and
- Ability to communicate orally and present to groups.
