The Director of Event Sales and Services leads the external rental program for campus facilities while overseeing the coordination, policies, and operational structures that ensure high-quality, efficient delivery of both internal and external events. Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing and Communications, this position balances proactive sales leadership with the development of strong event protocols, streamlined processes, and comprehensive policies that enhance customer satisfaction, brand visibility, recruitment opportunities, and revenue generation. This position is designated as essential personnel and may be required to support events during evenings, weekends, and in emergencies.

Duties:

Sales Leadership, Client Development, and Strategic Partnerships
- Manage a strategic partnership focused on increasing event sales and lead efforts to expand revenue from both new and existing clients.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to meet annual revenue targets, leveraging both internal expertise and external partnerships.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive engagement, customized proposals, contract negotiation, and issue resolution.
- Identify, pursue, and steward diverse business opportunities, including corporate events, conferences, weddings, performances, athletic tournaments, film productions, and community partnerships to maximize facility utilization.
- Collaborate with marketing division colleagues to align external events with Meredith’s branding, public relations efforts, and overall revenue strategies.
- Partner with the enrollment division to identify and maximize student recruitment opportunities associated with hosting external groups and events.

Policy Development, Process Optimization, and Operational Oversight
- Lead the development, documentation, and ongoing refinement of event policies, pricing structures, service standards, and standard operating procedures.
- Continuously assess and strengthen event management protocols to improve efficiency, eliminate barriers, ensure compliance, and deliver consistent, high-quality service experiences.
- Serve as a resource and advisor to clients on event design, planning, logistics, and execution, ensuring adherence to College standards and protocols.
- Oversee the coordination of support services for events, ensuring seamless collaboration with campus partners, including facilities, media services, campus police, dining/catering, technology services, and other operational units.
- Work closely with the Executive Leadership Team and external partners to strengthen the marketability, competitiveness, and long-term sustainability of the College’s event and facility rental operations.

Staff Leadership and Performance Management
- Provide leadership and supervision to event services staff, including hiring, training, performance evaluation, scheduling, and professional development.
- Ensure staffing plans meet the operational needs of both routine and high-profile events while managing staff workload and resources effectively.

Data-Driven Reporting and Continuous Improvement
- Establish systems for comprehensive data collection, performance monitoring, and financial reporting to support evidence-based decision making and continuous improvement.
- Deliver quarterly and annual revenue reports, forecasting projections, and operational assessments to senior leadership.
- Conduct post-event evaluations and ongoing client satisfaction assessments to inform service enhancements and operational refinements.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 3-5 years of leadership experience in event sales, hospitality, or a related field, including experience supervising a team
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experienced with event management software.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required for events.
