Meredith College, a private, residential women’s college and coeducational graduate school located in Raleigh, North Carolina, seeks a visionary chief enrollment officer to serve as Vice President of Enrollment Management (VPEM). This position reports to the President.
As a member of the executive leadership team, the Vice President of Enrollment Management (VPEM) provides strategic vision and leadership for all aspects of enrollment, including recruitment, admissions, financial aid, and student retention. The VPEM will develop and implement innovative enrollment strategies that align with Meredith College’s mission to empower students to live with integrity and provide leadership for the needs, opportunities and challenges of society.
This role oversees enrollment programs for undergraduate, graduate, transfer, international, and adult learners, ensuring a seamless and engaging experience for students from inquiry through graduation.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Enrollment Management
- Develop and implement a multi-year Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) plan informed by data, market research, and institutional goals.
- Monitor enrollment trends and demographic data, adjusting strategies to effectively recruit and retain diverse student populations.
- Design holistic strategies for recruitment, engagement, persistence, and graduation.
2. Leadership and Collaboration
- Serve as a strategic advisor to the President and an active member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT).
- Educate campus stakeholders on enrollment trends, challenges, and opportunities.
- Lead cross-departmental collaboration with faculty, staff, and leadership to align enrollment efforts with institutional priorities.
- Foster trust and build relationships across campus to support a culture of shared responsibility for recruitment and retention.
3. Oversight of Key Enrollment Functions
- Provide leadership for admissions, financial aid, enrollment operations, and recruitment events.
- Direct key initiatives, including traditional undergraduate admissions, transfer and international admissions, graduate and adult admissions, and campus visit programs.
4. Data-Driven Decision Making
- Leverage enrollment technologies, including CRM systems like Slate, to evaluate and improve recruitment and financial aid strategies.
- Analyze data to identify opportunities to recruit and retain a diverse student body, including domestic and international students.
- Evaluate third-party vendors and manage partnerships to enhance enrollment operations.
5. Student Success
- Collaborate with campus leaders to strengthen support systems that promote student success and retention.
- Ensure a student-focused approach to enrollment operations, from inquiry to graduation.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications, skills, and characteristics:
Education and Experience:
- A master’s degree in higher education, leadership, or a related field (doctorate preferred).
- A minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible experience in enrollment management, with a minimum of five years at the executive leadership level (ten years of executive experience preferred).
- Experience in enrollment leadership at a women’s college or similar institution is strongly preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- Expertise in admissions, financial aid strategy, and enrollment planning.
- Strong knowledge of higher education market trends and demographic challenges.
- Proven ability to analyze and leverage data and technology (experience with Slate CRM preferred).
- Effective communicator with excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams and manage budgets effectively.
- Commitment to fostering a personalized and student-centered approach to enrollment.
